SelfHost Meet
Jitsi Meet, installed and verified by one person

Video meetings on a server you own.

I set up Jitsi Meet on your Hetzner Cloud account under your own name. Your logo, your address, signed logins, recordings and live captions that never leave your machine. You pay Hetzner directly, so the server stays yours.

Packages from $185. Server from about 10 EUR a month, billed to your own Hetzner account.

Verification output from a real deployment: server, DNS, firewall, port, HTTPS, TLS issuer and expiry, branding, app name, watermark, signalling, bridge health, page heading and a stock-branding scan, all PASS, 28 passed 0 failed 0 warned.
The report you get at handover, from a real build. Missing DNS, a stale certificate or leftover stock branding fails this run before it can reach your users.

Why people buy this instead of a seat licence

Every meeting platform rents you a room by the seat. This is the other model: one server, one fixed monthly bill, no per person cost, and nobody in the middle reading your traffic.

Your name on it

Logo, app name, favicon, welcome text and your own domain with HTTPS. The Jitsi branding comes off. Your clients see your product, not a vendor's.

Your data stays put

Meetings run on your server. Recordings land on your disk. If you add captions, the speech recognition runs on the same machine, so the audio isn't sent to anyone's API.

You keep the keys

The Hetzner account, the domain, the server and the docs are yours. I hand over a verification report and a runbook, and I don't hold anything you need to keep running.

Two welcome pages from test deployments: one reading Acme Meet rooms, on Acme's own servers with the Acme logo, another reading Meetings on your own server under a different name and hostname.
Two test deployments, same build command. Each one carries its own logo, name and wording on its own hostname.

Packages

Prices are for my time. The server is separate and always yours: about 10 EUR a month on Hetzner for the size these packages deploy.

What is proven on a live server

Not a feature list from a brochure. Each of these ran on a real host and the evidence is in my build log, with the date it passed.

Measured, not estimated

Capacity numbers come from load tests on real servers with real browsers. When I don't have a number for a shape, I say so instead of guessing.

24 people in one room
On a 2 vCPU, 4 GB server, with 88% CPU headroom still free at the end of the run.
measured 19 Oct 2026
50 people, every camera on
On the two server shape, video bridge peaking at 56% CPU across 84,013 samples with no lost picture.
measured 27 Oct 2026
8 people in 2 meetings
On the Kubernetes tier, two conferences on two separate bridges, each with its own capacity.
measured 23 Oct 2026

What I won't sell you

Two honest limits, because a meeting server that fails in a way nobody warned you about is worse than a smaller promise.

No failover between servers

I measured what happens when a video bridge dies mid call on the shipped multi server shape: that meeting ends after about six seconds and the surviving bridge doesn't pick up the room. So a second server buys you more meetings at once, never a meeting that survives a crash. If you need that, I'll say it plainly: not yet, and I won't put a date on it.

Tight scope on purpose

Hetzner Cloud and Cloudflare DNS are what I have proven. Other providers are not sold, because a deployment I have not rehearsed is a refund waiting to happen. Multi region relaying is not built.

How an order runs

The build itself is automated and fast. Most of the work is collecting your details, proving the result and handing it over properly.

  1. You send four things: a Hetzner Cloud token, your domain, DNS access, and a logo. I check each one before anything is created.
  2. You see the cost first. A dry run prints the exact server type, its live price and everything that will be built. Nothing is charged before you approve it.
  3. I build it. The automated path takes about four minutes from a clean start, then I put your branding on and check it over HTTPS.
  4. It gets tested. Two browsers join a real call, exchange video, and the report records what passed. Recordings, captions or dial-in get their own test.
  5. You receive the keys. A verification report, a handover document with your server's real details, and a walkthrough. After that the server is yours to run.

Questions I get before an order

Who pays for the server?

You do, directly, in your own Hetzner account. It costs about 10 EUR a month for the size the basic package uses. I don't resell servers and I'm not between you and the bill.

What happens when Jitsi releases a new version?

With the care plan I test the new release on a spare server, then upgrade yours with an automatic rollback if anything fails, and send you the before and after versions. Upstream ships every few weeks, so some months have no upgrade.

Do the captions use OpenAI or Google?

No. The speech recognition runs on your own server, so the audio never leaves it. That's the point of paying for your own machine.

Can I embed the meeting in my own app?

Yes. You get signed token handling, the embed snippet and a working demo page, and the embed itself was proven on a live server.

Is this an official Jitsi product?

No. Jitsi Meet is open source software made by 8x8, and I deploy and support it. I'm not affiliated with 8x8 and I don't speak for them.

Tell me what you need it for

Twenty minutes on a call is usually enough to size the server properly: how many people meet at once, whether you need recording, and whether your network will need a TURN relay. If your case isn't a fit, I'll say so on that call.
